snow day 2010 (2.12.10)

The way I see it, there’s no better cure for a fever than running around in the snow for an hour. In addition to me still recovering from the gall bladder removal, Brittain woke up with a fever. Not good timing with the beautiful snow we longingly looked at from inside. Finally we decided to seize the moment and hope for the best. I stood in the doorway and took pictures while Dan and Brittain had a grand old time playing in the snow. I love the picture of Brittain leaning up against the snowman…so proud. No one would ever know that Dan wasn’t able to ever talk her into helping. He actually did the whole thing by himself.

valentines day – preschool party (2.11.10)

It turned out that my gall bladder surgery was scheduled on the same day as Brittain’s Valentines party at school, February 11th. I hated more than anything to have to miss it, but after about a week and a half of not being able to eat much of anything, I couldn’t wait for that day to come so that I could be pain-free. Because the procedure was out-patient and also because there was family who stepped in to help, Brittain really never noticed anything different. I was able to get up that morning and get her ready before heading to the hospital. Dan and Mama were both with me before I headed back for surgery and when Dan headed to the preschool for the party, Mama hung around until I was finished. I was home by late afternoon with what Brittain thought was just a tummy ache.

Dan took some pictures for me since I wasn’t able to be there. My favorites are of the hats that Brittain and I made a couple of days before to give to her friends. Apparently they were a big hit and she and I had a great time making them!
